Josh Gunderson at CCHS?!

    This Wednesday, January 11, 2012 Carbondale Community Highschool had a guest speaker named Josh Gunderson. Gunderson was here to give a joyful presentation called Hooked On Facebook about the online world and how we can sometimes share information that can put us in risk without even knowing it. He also talked about bullying and harassment that can be found anywhere like in the book Twisted that we are doing the freshmen common reading in school on. In the book Tyler and Yoda both get bullied as they are in middle school and highschool. We heard in the presentation about kids who have not been able to take it any longer and have ended their own lives.The presentation was good, and I think most of us enjoyed it, it was much better than just listening to a boring person just say facts about bullying and how Facebook is dangerous. I also think Josh was able to connect much better with us, because of his way of speaking, age, and positive attitude.

    Josh Gunderson is in fact one of the best inspirational speakers I have personally, ever heard. I hope that he made people that bully think twice now about pushing someone down the stairs, or make fun of the someone harshly. Also the stories he told us of the consequences of Facebook status updates. Even though he was funny his message was very serious and important. I'm a person who is persuaded very easily but, he made me think about my safety, the things that I post online and the information I have up as something public. As soon as I got home I logged onto my Facebook and checked all of my information. Therefore I agree with all the comments students, teachers, and parents have left. It is all very true.
