Poem #3- "A Love" Poem. Burning Within The Lies

Gasping in his scent,
Unwillingly but naturally uncontrolable stroking his damp neck
Glancing up at the mysterious scar cutting across his left eyebrow
The lies burning within his dark hazel eyes
His soft pink lips pressing against mine,
This kiss as untrue as the first one
Yet there I was hoping to one day be the one he truly loved
feeling like I had nothing to loose...

I wake up every morning to the smell of the moist green grass, mother nature at its best creeping in through the old wooden walls.
The bright shine of the sun rising makes me close my eyes.
I like to listen to the the old rooster announcing the new day, the birds singing next to the window, and the dogs barking at the pale, sad man from across the street whose name I don't know.
I like the way the breeze that comes in through the window gives me a chill and the way I step slowly onto the creeking wooden floor and its coldness works itself up from the bottom of my feet and tigles itself  to my back and neck.
I enjoy the way the calm morning passes by carefully like an autum leaf falling of a tree.

*:(Matched):* ALLY CONDIE

In Mrs. Hayes English class we have been learning much about Allegory, Allusion, Dystopian Society, and Satire. Allegories are stories that symbolize something else. Allusions are references to a well known person, place, or thing, or another work of literature. A Dystopian Society is an imaginary place where everything is bad as can be. Satire is the use of irony sarcasm, ridicule to expose something else in a work of literature. To understand this we read a novel called Fahrenheit 451, this novel is FULL of dystopia. Our class also saw the movie Shrek in order to understand satire.
As an individual assignment we all had to read a dystopian novel. I picked Matched by Ally Condie as my novel to blog about for this assignment. The main character in this book is Cassia Maria Reyes, who is just turning seventeen years old. In her society everything is controlled starting from what you eat, where, work as and marry.
In this society people don't eat for taste but for health. Everything is so common and limited. There is only one hundred poems, and songs that the society decided to keep. How can we appreciate anything fully when overwhelmed with too much? (PG. 29 CONDIE). They asked no questions, all of these things seemed perfect for the people, because it was for the best.
In this perfect world Cassia lives in you can be called for your Match Bonquet any time after you turn seventeen. You are suppose to be matched with a person and you get a card filled with information of your match and you are suppose to learn, in reality memorize everything about them since you will be having the Marriage Contract with them. Although a very unsual thing happens to Cassia, she gets matched with her best friend who she already knows everything about, and he already knows everything about her.
This story full of passion mixes up even more when Cassia gets involved with Ky. She should follow the rules of her society and marry Xander who she has a marriage contract with, and who is handsome or just follow her heart and go with Ky. If she does the second choice they will be the first to do such a thing and not follow the rules of her society.

UnEQUAL is UnAMERICAN

This article talks about procedures when can take when being bullied, or seeing someone being bullied. It is very good and helful for teenagers who are struggling with what is right to do when they see someone get beat or if they are the victim. Many kids think that it is wrong or lame to tell on someone. A lot of times they are just scared of what their friends say or how the bully will react towards them. You can be discrete about things and still do something about it. In my opinion the people that like to bully others are just persons with a sad life and poor self esteem, and to make themselves feel atleast a little better they hate on easy targets or who they envy, and wish to be like in reality. I also think that standing up for someone doesn't make you a party- pooper or tattle-tell. I think that only a coward would stand bye and watch how they treat someone crappy. You can tell the bully to quit and be nicer or tell an adult in seach of help.

    Everyday is so wonderfulThen suddenly
It's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain
I'm so ashamed
I am beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring me down
Oh no
So don't you bring me down today
To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed
In all your doom, ooh
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The pieces gone
Left the puzzle undone
Ain't that the way it is
You're beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
Oh no
You're beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring you down
Oh no
So don't you bring me down today

-Christina Aguilera

Yes, it is said that the United States is a place of equal rights. Key word "said", its not all so true. Even though we live in the twenty-first century and we all know about homosexuals not everybody accepts it. Children are cruel and easily get confused between right, and wrong. Thats why adults are here to teach us better and to help us out from their knowledge, and mistakes throughout their own lives.
Christina Aguilera has a very nice song called Beautiful in which it talks about words not bringing us down or how they can't hurt us... But when you are a child or a teenage being called a fagget, homosexual, fruity, gay, or lesbian can hurt your feelings a lot. Yesterday we watched a video called Bullied: A Student, a School, and a Case that Made History in it a young gay boy has been harrased his whole life and beat just for not being heterosexual like most of the others. The discrimintation is great, for him its hard to understand and his teachers do nothing about the bullying. This young man even gets to the point of running away from home and trying to commit suicide. He got sent to the hospital from beatings and he even wanted to drop out from Highschool. This documentary shows his horrible experiences and other children and teenagers that unfortunetly did not make it through many types of harrasment and bullying for various reasons.
I think that bullying in fact is something monstrous and that should be stopped soon. There is no reason or excuse to descriminate or judge anyone. We are all diffrent and special in our own way and should not be ashamed of who we are. I really liked the outcome of the case. I was really happy we got to watch thsi doccumentary, I thougt it was wonderful, and hopefully it made many of the bullies think about the way they act, and how hurtfull bullying can be, I hope all the nonsense can soon enough stop for us to live in a better society.

Conflict changes us? But how?

Ups and downs in the novel make the main character of this story, Tyler Miller change a lot. At first he starts to change physically, but he knows that despite of his physical appearance deep inside he is still a 'loser'. When Bethany Mulberry and Tyler start to 'talk' things twist up much more than what Tyler's life already is, his enemies now have something else against him specifically Chip because the looser he detests is now talking to his sister. When Miller starts to dress differently just to make the girl he likes happy and fit in, he compares himself to the other guys something he didn't do before. In a paragraph he even says "If you lined me up with the other guys, you'd start singing 'One of these things is not like the others' From Sesame Street the other guys, they all blurrred into each other: rich, smart, athletic, and popular. Me, I stood out, the semi- bad boy guaranteed to bring some spice into her life." (Anderson 108). He starts to kind-of compete with the jocks for Bethany. He trys to stick up for himself a little more, and for a while isn't bullied as much as he use to be. This is when Tyler starts to change and his self esteem finally starts rising a bit and kicks everything to the curve, Tyler realizes the reality and even says it to himself like in this quote, " Of course, there was always the chance that she was totallly setting meup for major humiliation or that this was all mercy-flirting -But, honestly? I didn't care" (Anderson 108).

Throughout the whole story Tyler Miller thinks a lot about death. He is really into a video game called Tophet, its about killing, good and evil. "Thinking about death relaxed me" (Anderson 44) When more conflicts rise towards the end of the story he starts to think about suicide. " You can't kill yourself you have to run away." ( Anderson198) He takes out his father's gun and attempts to plan his death. He wanted to do it nicely without leaving a mess for his family to see. Tyler wanted this to atleast be the only thing he did right, other than digging holes in the ground and messing his life up. He knows he has ruined a lot of things in his and his family's lives so he doesn't think he deserves to be living anymore. 'Homo, Fuge' (Anderson 212) Tyler wasn't able to do it, he throws up and rinses his mouth. What once made him relaxed now churned his stomach and made him nervous, maybe after all death nor evil was so much what he thought. Instead Tyler moved on into the the light " I chose wisely" (Anderson 250)

'Am I describing TYLER? (Imagechef)

Pg 117 Chap. 45 Idiot. Moron. Cretin. Fool.
Tyler doesn't seem to expect or think the best from himself. He says the words above to himself.
He also says in pg 108 of Chap. 42 "If you lined me up with the other guys, you'd start singing 'One of these things is not like the other' from Sesame Street. The other guys, they all blurred into each other: rich, smart, athletic, and popular. Me, I stood out, the semi-bad boy guaranteed to bring some spice into her life"

Are we in school? or Hooters? Yeah...PUT some clothes on

I am not saying any of us have to dress for school as if we were going to church, because I know for sure I don't. Everybody has their own way of dressing, and we have the right to do it how we want without being judged, sexually harassed, or made fun of. Although, school is not a fashion show, beach, or Play boy Mansion to dress scantily. I think that if you want to be respected, you have to give yourself respect first. There is certain places and occasions where you have to dress appropriate, and you need to know when and where. If the girls are dressing with little clothes and revealing most of their bodies in school they must want the attention. Therefore, they shouldn't get mad if they are getting the attention they seem to want.
Sexual harassment can definitely go both ways, for men and women. I have seen a lot of times in school and outside of school girls being all over guys trying to be funny or seriously hollering at them. Most of the time I see the guys getting nervous and embarrassed but they usually never say anything to the comments and things females do.
